Activate Your eBookeBooks: How They Work
- Purchase the card through the bookstore cashier just as you would a print textbook. Purchasing the card authorizes the card, but does not activate it.
- When you are ready to read your ebook, register, and log in to Our Online Store . If you've never logged in before, follow the instructions for creating a new account. One you are logged in, click the link for Activate and Access eBooks. From the next menu, choose Click here to activate an in-store purchase or any items from Campus eBookstore. Choose VitalSource as the provider from the drop-down menu, then enter the activation code from your receipt. Please note: Your ebook is now activated and cannot be returned.
- Follow the easy on-screen prompts to download your ebook to the online bookshelf. You will need the latest version of the free reader software to read your ebook.
- Access your book on the go. Download free applications to read your book from your mobile device or access it on a browser wherever you have an Internet connection.

- Purchase the access code through the bookstore cashier just as you would a print textbook.
- Redeem your product at www.campusebookstore.com/redeem/. Enter the Redemption Code on your sheet.
- Choose your School. Select Alaska then University of Alaska Anchorage-UAA Campus Bookstore
- Enter Redemption Code and your Email Address. Please note: the product cannot be returned, refunded, or exchanged once it is redeemed.

- Sign Up. Sign up for Cengage Unlimited and pay only $119.99 for all course materials over the semester, no matter how many you use.
- Access. Access digital learning platforms, ebooks, online homework, and study tools. Browse more than 22,000 products across 70 disciplines.
- Get. Want print? If you use a digital platform, you get a print rental for just $7.99 + free shipping.
- Keep. When the subscription ends, students can keep up to six textbooks in a “digital locker” and access them anytime for up to a year at no cost.

First, Cengage Unlimited is for post-secondary students in the U.S. That means some of our content, such as for K-12, international, or library markets, is not included. Select high school dual enrollment programs are included.
Plus, there are some U.S. post-secondary products which use non-Cengage platforms or content, and we don’t have the rights to include those with Cengage Unlimited. However, many of these third-party products will be available for an additional fee.
Finally, there are a small number of products that cannot be digitized and are not included. Products not included in Cengage Unlimited include:
- Milady (except Massage, which is included in Cengage Unlimited)
- ed2go
- Place U
- Pathbrite (except where integrated into MindTap)
- OpenNow (will be available in Cengage Unlimited starting January 2019. However, Extended Access (a free pilot) is available through the end of 2018)
- Competency Tracker (will be available in Cengage Unlimited starting January 2019)
- Learning Objects
- 3rd party tools (like Harris Care Tracker)
- WebAssign with 3rd party content from non-CL sources. However, WebAssign with OpenStax is included (print rental not available from Cengage for OpenStax texts)
- Non-digital bundle components like CDs or DVDs, or print items like workbooks that we do not have the right to digitize
Overall, more than 22,000 of our products are available through Cengage Unlimited—and this number continues to grow!
Rentals and Returns
Rentals: Save up to 50% on textbooks
Rent your books for a semester and save up to 50% in textbooks. Just make sure you return your rental on time to avoid late fees. For each semester's rental due date, please see our calendar or call 907-786-4759

Return Policies
Please see below for the return policy for textbooks.
All textbooks purchased after the add/drop deadline are non-returnable. Exceptions to this policy will be handled on a case-by-case basis and restocking fees may apply.
*For 5-week and 10-week summer sessions, textbooks must be returned by the end of the first week of class or with completed drop form. For workshops and classes of 1-week or less, textbooks must be returned prior to class beginning or within 48 hours of purchase with completed drop form.

Online Reservations and Account Charges
Online Reservations
The Bookstore provides the option to reserve your textbooks online. This allows you to get the first pick of Used Books, any available rentals, and allows you to beat lines, as we pull your books and have your order ready for you!
How it Works
- Order your books online.
- Choose the delivery method; pick up at the Bookstore OR have the books mailed out to your location
- Pick up your order or wait for it in the mail

- Your credit card won't be charged until we process your order
- We CANNOT charge your student account for online orders because they must be done in person. Please see "Charge your Account" below for more details.

- Must show a picture ID to pick up your books

- Shipping for textbooks is $15 per semester

Charge your account
Charge textbooks and supplies to your student account
It's easier to pay off everything when it is all in one place - tuition, textbooks, parking permit, etc - in one lump sum or in smaller monthly payments. You can even use your financial aid to help pay it off.
- Must have a Wolfcard and purchases must be made in person. The student charging his/her account must be present. Charging is available at the UAA main campus bookstore. Charging is not available at branch campuses.
- Account must be in good standing (paid in full, no financial holds). All charges from previous semesters must be paid off. Current semester charges are OK.
- Must be a UAA student: : You must be registered with UAA. UAF or UAS students don't qualify.
- Must be registered for 1+ credits at any of the following campuses: Anchorage, Kenai Peninsula College, Prince William Sound College, Mat Su College, or Kodiak College.
- Any exceptions to these rules must be pre-approved by Accounting Services: 907-786-1440
The Bookstore receives updated eligibility lists from Accounting Services several times a week. If you have only recently paid off old bills or registered for classes, it may take 1-2 days before you are able to charge to your account.
If your application to UAA hasn't finished processing or you haven't turned in all of the necessary paperwork (transcripts, GED certification, etc.) you will need to contact Accounting Services at 907-786-1440 to request an exception to the policy and be allowed to charge to your account.
Please see our Important Dates page for the ending of the charge period. Payment for any student account charges (including, but not limited to, textbooks, tuition, fees, and housing) is due by the payment deadline. Unpaid charges are subject to the same late fees as tuition, fees, and housing. Your first refund check may precede your bookstore charges, be sure to check your account prior to the payment deadline to be sure it is paid in full.
- Come to the bookstore in person with your current, UAA ID card within the designated charging dates (see Bookstore home page for current semester's dates)
- Shop for your textbooks and school supplies - up to $1,000 in textbooks and $50 in supplies
- Rental textbooks are authorized for student account charges
- Head to any register and let the cashier know that you want to charge to your student account
- Pay your account off at the same time you pay for your tuition and other fees

Day One Digital
Basic Information Questions
Under this program, would shift from using printed course materials to digital materials in exchange for better pricing than they can find anywhere else. Every student will have access through Blackboard from the first day of classes. Your instructor will show you how to access the materials. Students must opt into the program if they wish to continue using the materials after the add/drop date. Opting in means students will receive heavily discounted prices (better than buying directly from the publisher) too.
Payment Questions
Under this program, students would shift from using printed course materials to digital materials in exchange for better pricing than they can find anywhere else. Students do not have to opt into the program, but those who don't will need to source their books elsewhere. For those who opt in, their student accounts will be charged at the end of the add-drop period.

Accessing the Materials
You will receive a welcome email from the Bookstore 2-3 weeks before the start of classes and again the first week of classes. It will contain a personalized link to your portal, which will include information about pricing as well as how to opt in or out of the program. If you can’t find that email, you can visit your portal and login with your UAA ID to get the same information along with the ability to opt in or out if you want.
